Hello all of my Kindergarten Friends!
Today we welcomed in a brand new school year! With the new school year we’ve also moved on from the Dr. Seuss Theme and have changed to Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom! Since my K-1 class this year is a majority of Kindergarteners we are really focusing on getting the basics down, like our letters / letter sounds, phonological awareness, numbers, and counting!
Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom is an excellent book with fun rhymes and colorful letters. The kindergarteners learn about rhyming words and the order of the alphabet. So this year I decorated the room in cocoanut trees, and bright colors to match the book. Take a look at the layout and some of the different centers such as the writing center (3rd picture), Home Living Center (6th picture), Small Group & Listening Center (7th picture), blocks center (9th picture), and science center (11th picture).
With the new theme, I have decided to update the design and I will be regularly updating this website again! I can’t wait to show you all the fun things we’re going to do this year! Cya soon!
For those of you who are new to teaching, laying out / designing your classroom can be a bit intimidating. Here are some pictures of what my previous classrooms looked like on the first day of school. The key is not to put too much up on the first day. Make enough space to allow for your instruction to guide the displays. If you put too much up, you’ll find students can be over-whelmed.
